The shock dyno results are in!
20 July 2009After months of extensive endurance and track testing, the time had come to shock-dyno our new OMI-performance spec SR shock absorbers. Thanks to the help of fellow Honda enthusiast Kay, and the facilities at AST suspension in Valkenswaard (Netherlands)
The shocks in question were tested at a constant speed of 254mm/s or 10 inch/s.
- Conclusions following the shock-dyno graph results:
- The shock absorbers are truly linear in their rebound characteristics. Setting the rebound, does not affect the bump at all.
- We can see a significant result when setting “clicks”. Resulting in 34 usable settings.
- The graph curve demonstrates a very progressive, consistent and predictable character of the OMI-performance spec SR shocks. Making this setup ideal for slower damper speeds under daily driving conditions. While maintaining a very solid, stable and safe platform for use under heavier driving conditions, or mild track use.
- Front shock settings are firmer than the rear. Complementing the use of slightly heavier springs in the front, promoting corner stability.
Overall we are very happy with the results. We set out to develop a coilover set that is both comfortable on the street, as well as perform well on the occasional track day. We did not intend to build a hard core, kidney shattering track-only setup. Something that you can live with, and is still bearable with every day use.
This goal was achieved and gloriously surpassed.
